StreetGuard Security — Privacy Policy
Effective date: 19 April 2026 Last reviewed: 19 April 2026 Version: 1.0 Contact: support@streetguardsecurity.com
1. About this policy
StreetGuard Security ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and takes our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) seriously.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we collect it, why we collect it, who we share it with, how we protect it, and the rights you have over it.
This policy applies to your use of:
- the streetguardsecurity.com website (the "Website")
- our customer service channels (email, messaging, phone, social media DMs)
- our marketing (email, SMS, and advertising we run on third-party platforms)
It does not apply to third-party websites or services that we link to — those have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read.
StreetGuard Security is a trading name. The operator of the Website and the entity you are contracting with may update as our business evolves. Current operator details are available on request by emailing support@streetguardsecurity.com.
2. What "personal information" means
"Personal information" is information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether true or not and whether recorded in a material form or not. This definition matches the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
For customers outside Australia, similar protections apply under laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK Data Protection Act 2018. Where those apply to you, see Section 12.

6. Overseas disclosure (APP 8)
Many of our service providers are based outside Australia. When we send personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the overseas recipient does not breach the APPs.
The main countries where your personal information may be processed are:
- United States (Shopify, Stripe, PayPal, Meta, Google, TikTok)
- Ireland (Meta EU operations, Shopify EU, Stripe EU, Google EU)
- Canada (Shopify headquarters)
- Singapore (TikTok regional operations)
- New Zealand (carriers delivering to NZ customers)
By using the Website, you acknowledge that your personal information may be disclosed to, and processed in, these countries. Data protection laws in some of these countries may differ from Australia's.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies to:
- keep you logged in and your shopping cart remembered
- measure how the Website is used (analytics)
- deliver and measure advertising on Meta, Google, TikTok and other platforms
- detect fraudulent activity
The main categories are:
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to work (e.g. cart, checkout). You cannot opt out of these and still use the site.
- Analytics — help us understand what is and is not working (e.g. Google Analytics).
- Advertising / remarketing — allow us to show relevant ads on third-party platforms and measure conversions (e.g. Meta Pixel, Google Ads, TikTok Pixel).
You can manage cookies through your browser settings, through opt-out tools offered by advertising platforms (e.g. Your Online Choices — youronlinechoices.com.au), or by using a consent management tool where offered on the Website.
Disabling some cookies may affect Website functionality.
8. Direct marketing and how to opt out
Where you have opted in — for example by entering your email at checkout with the marketing checkbox ticked, subscribing to our newsletter, or joining our SMS list — we may send you promotional content.
You can opt out at any time by:
- clicking "unsubscribe" at the bottom of any marketing email
- replying STOP to any marketing SMS
- emailing support@streetguardsecurity.com
We will action opt-outs promptly, and in any event within 5 business days. Opting out of marketing does not opt you out of transactional emails (e.g. order confirmations, delivery updates, warranty correspondence).
9. How long we keep your personal information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described above, or as required by law.
| Category | Typical retention period |
|---|---|
| Order and tax records | 7 years after the order (required by the Income Tax Assessment Act and ATO record-keeping rules) |
| Customer service correspondence | Up to 3 years after last contact |
| Marketing opt-in and subscriber data | Until you unsubscribe, then held in a suppression list (email/phone only) to prevent accidental re-contact |
| Analytics and usage data | Typically 14–26 months at the provider, or the default retention period of the tool |
| Warranty and return records | 7 years (ACL evidence-keeping) |
| Account data (if you create an account) | While your account is active, plus 2 years |
When retention ends, we either delete the personal information or de-identify it so it cannot be linked back to you.
10. How we protect your personal information
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. Measures include:
- HTTPS / TLS encryption on the Website
- PCI-DSS compliance through our payment processors
- Role-based access controls on our admin systems
- Password hygiene standards for staff accounts (strong passwords, 2FA where supported)
- Regular review of our vendor list and their security posture
- Secure deletion or de-identification when retention ends
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You use the Website at your own risk, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Data breach notification
We comply with the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme administered by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
If an eligible data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm to you, we will notify you and the OAIC as required by Part IIIC of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
